finance&invest.brussels is a regional public institution created in 1984. Its mission is to provide concrete solutions to the financial needs of entrepreneurs at key moments in their lives: creation, development, innovation, internationalisation, environmental transition, takeover-transfer.

finance&invest.brussels is aimed at two specific audiences:

1. Start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs

The proposed solutions are :

  • Equity investments: finance&invest.brussels can invest capital in start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs with investment and/or development projects. This financing is most often carried out via an increase in the company's capital.
  • mezzanine debt: in practice, this is medium or long-term debt that can be repaid or converted into shares in the case of a "convertible loan".
  • convertible loan: usually a mezzanine loan, where the agreement provides for the possibility of converting the outstanding balance into shares during a specific period and subject to a series of conditions.
  • loans and co-financing: finance&invest.brussels also offers more traditional loans to complement bank credits when the project requires such intervention.
  • guarantees : Via a delegated mission, finance&invest.brussels ensures the operational management of the Brussels Guarantee Fund. Its mission is to facilitate the granting of professional loans in the Brussels-Capital Region.

2. VSEs, social enterprises and cooperatives (support via the subsidiary Brusoc)

The proposed solutions are :

  • Coop Us: investment in cooperatives that have investment and/or development projects, most often via a capital increase that will, at most, double the investment of all cooperators.

  • Open Up: targets self-creation under the status of self-employed natural person through a maximum financing of 25.000€ over a period of 1 to 5 years.

  • Rise Up: promotes the development and creation of businesses through a loan of up to €100,000. This financing is intended only for legal entities.

  • Citiz Up: targets companies and associations serving a societal cause (e.g. integration, environmental). This financing is of maximum 100.000€ over a period of 1 to 5 years.
